Festival of street theater in Edinburgh - an international festival organized in Edinburgh since 1947. The idea of the first festival was to fill up the divisions in the world, especially after the recent war. The organizer of the festival was Austrian Rudolf Franz Josef Bing. He chose the capital of Scotland as a place for theater meetings, because this city located on the outskirts of Europe did not suffer much during the war. In the Iron Curtain era, the Edinburgh Festival was one of the few places where representatives of the Eastern and Western European theater art could meet.
